CH Reed Compressed
Air System, Piping, Dryers, Oil/Water Separation, Paint, Pumping
and Finishing Turn-key System.

The
goal of the compressed air system designed and installed by
C.H. Reed at Fleetwood Motor Homes in Paxinos, PA was to provide
a reliable system that would supply all production demands,
as well as provide back up with an emphasis on energy efficiency
and reduced life cycle costs.
Three Quincy Compressor QSI750’s
with PowerSync
Control
was selected as the air supply source. All three
machines are networked together. Networking allows the units
to sequence, which provides only the required volume to the plant
for energy efficiency while rotating the lead compressor to maintain
equal run hours to minimize maintenance.
The
compressed air is treated through a Zeks
Mist Eliminator Filter and then dried in an Airtek
Smart Cycle Cold Trap Refrigerated Dryer.
A
Quincy Compressor Flow Controller maintains
a constant pressure to the plant. A 3,750-gallon
Silvan Tank is used in conjunction with
the flow controller to hold a reserve compressed air supply
to buffer short demand
events. All generated condensate is separated in a Summit
Industrial ConDePhase Oil/Water Separator. The environmentally
friendly ConDePhase separates oil from water thus reducing disposal
costs.
The clean,
dry compressed air is distributed throughout the facility through
approximately 8000 feet of
Transair aluminum
air pipe. The Transair piping has a blue powder-coated
finish that won’t rust or scale like traditional black
iron pipe. Its push-to-lock fittings and lightweight pipe speed
the installation process and allow for quick and easy modifications
or additions and can be re-configured.
Domnick
Hunter Breathable Air Panels were selected for the
spray booth application.
Finishing System
In
addition to the complete compressed air system, The Fleetwood
Homes project included an engineered turn-key finishing
system. The finishing system included Graco electronic, two component
paint mixing equipment, fluid piping, paint kitchen, spray booth
products,
installation and start-up. The two component
finishing system accurately measures and mixes two component
Dupont Performance
coatings in a closed system at the spray gun application point.
The
performance of the Fleetwood Homes system was discussed during
the DuPont Performance Coatings National Sales Meeting where all
DuPont Sales
and Technical
Support
from
North America were in attendance.
During
the meeting, the results of the Project at Fleetwood Motor Homes
was publicly discussed, since this project involved DuPont
Coatings, and the Graco equipment required the support the system
at Paxinos PA.
The
Dupont National Account Manager who manages and coordinates the
project nationwide,
commented on how well the Plant in Pa was running. In an effort
of giving a complement, asked
if "C.H. Reed might want to open a branch in California".
He was very complementary of the C.H. Reed team, for the skill
and effectiveness of the design, installation and support conducted
by Jon Bredbenner, and the entire C.H. Reed team. The Paxinos PA
plant project has been running well, due to the
effectiveness of the support given to this project by C.H. Reed.
Closing
While
the Fleetwood Homes project utilized many of the services and
products we provide,
one component remained similar to the many other applications
we have designed and installed during our extensive history.
The system met or exceeded all of the customers application requirements,
the installation was performed flawlessly and the after-sales-support
from our company has continued to meet the requirements and
standards of our customer, Fleetwood Homes.
