Pumping 50,000 lbs of Peanut Butter a Day

50,000 lbs of peanut butter a day – that’s a lot of snack bars!

This snack food manufacturer had a requirement to be able to unload 20-25 totes of peanut butter a day into their process. Working closely with them and testing at Graco, we determined the best solution for pumping this amount of peanut butter was a 4 pump STU (Sanitary Tote Unloader) with an electronic controls package, allowing us to integrate into their controls and set recipes to meet batch requirements.

With this setup, we are able to unload a tote in 10 minutes, which easily met their requirements and allowed the proper amount of time to remove the empty tote, prepare the new tote and then load. In addition, the tote evacuation rate was consistently 97%- 98%!

Graco sanitary bin and drum unloaders have numerous built-in features that protect foods and materials from contamination. The piston pumps included in these systems are also super easy to clean and sanitize. With very high evacuation rates, no material dilution, and a variety of pump configurations, we can help you transfer a wide variety of high-viscosity materials; from peanut butter to tomato paste, heavy chocolates, frosting, jams, and much more.
